Remember Me?

Hey there, reader friends! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?

I’ve had to step away from the internet a bit in the past few months. Anxiety and depression are A Thing that I deal with sometimes and, unfortunately, it was exacerbated a bit in the past several months by things like the Twitters and– well, keeping an authorly social media presence in general. Not fun and in ways I missed it, but stepping away for a while was what I needed. I’m feeling pretty okay these days though, so I’ve got a bunch to update you all on!

Book Things:

-Thanks to all of you, Fall of Thrones and Thorns was voted one of the 50 Best Indie Books of 2016! Not only that, but it was in the Top 20 of those books! Thank you!

-The audio edition of Fall of Thrones and Thorns was released! Grace Glass is back with her beautiful narration, and I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

-I published Tales from Fire to Frost: A Collection of Threats of Sky and Sea Stories, which includes all of the previously published shorts (Sisters of Wind and Flame, Breathe In, and Defining Justice). I put together this little compilation for the paperback aficionados out there who wanted to have a hard copy of the stories and complete their Threats of Sky and Sea collection. ^_^

Writing Things:

-You may remember that last year, I wrote a mini-episode for The Bridge Podcast, which is a fantasy audio drama podcast, of which my lovely CP Alex is one of the creators and showrunners. I’ve got my hand in a couple more upcoming episodes there, so make sure you subscribe!

-If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that one of my Christmas gifts was a “Writing Prompts” journal. I’m starting to make an effort to use it as sort of a writing exercise/warm-up.

-Things on the novel-writing front are slow, but starting to pick up steam! I’m making more of an effort to schedule in some library time, which is my preferred writing location.

Life Things:

(I try to keep my “author Instagram” (@jenellision) free of most of these things, but if you’re interested, you can always keep up with me on my personal Instagram, @dayinthelifeofjen.)

I’m working on ticking off some of those 2017 goals that I mentioned in my last post! So far, I:

  • ran my first 10K!
  • visited 1 new country: the U.K., where I had an absolute blast– I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and did a ton of fascinating historical tours, one of which inspired a plot point in the book I’m working on… and another of which was a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe, which has been a dream of mine for some time now
  • visited 1 new state: Illinois. I had my first Chicago experience, complete with deep dish pizza, “the bean,” and a visit to the Hancock to see a breathtaking view of the city, as well as an architectural boat tour of the buildings Chicago is famous for. It was a great trip, and it’s a city I’d like to go back to one of these days. 1 new state down, 3 to go.

-As far as states I’ve already been to go, this year I’ve also traveled to Colorado, Georgia, and Virginia/D.C. All very fun trips. ^_^

-I’ve been lucky enough to see some theatre and concerts so far this year. Shows have included:

  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
  • Something Rotten
  • Aladdin
  • Matilda
  • Blink-182
  • New Found Glory

And I have a few more shows already on the docket for the rest of the year!

And that’s life in a nutshell these days! How have things been with you?
