So, the title of this post is definitely a spoiler, but GUESS WHAT CAME TODAY! THAT’S RIGHT, MY FRIENDS! We finally have paperbacks for Book #2! You can find them unsigned and straight from the printer here. Or you can order them signed from me here. Excuse me now, while I stare at them lovingly for the rest of the week.
Happy book birthday, Riot of Storm and Smoke! Like your older sibling, Threats of Sky and Sea, I want to write you a letter on this, your release day. Like Threats, there were times I doubted we’d be able to get to this point. In writing you, there were often multiple steps back for every step forward. But unlike with Threats, I always knew where you, Riot, would start and end. It was just all of the stuff in the middle that took me a while to figure out. You were different and, like so many younger siblings, you struggled to define yourself. To stand apart from Threats of Sky and Sea. And boy, did you manage. To illustrate that point, I’ve pulled together a couple of small graphs for a few of these differences: Love you, Riot. Mean it. Your author, Jennifer Ellision Readers, you can now find Riot of […]
Guys. You have no idea JUST HOW LONG I have waited to show this to you. I mean, of course, you could probably guess that I’ve wanted to show it to you since I got it. You probably surmised that I’ve been eager before I even had a cover in hand. After all, my cover artist, Nathalia Suellen, is one brilliant lady. I knew she’d rock this cover just as much as she rocked the Threats of Sky and Sea cover. But guys. My face has been rocked off. I am faceless from Nathalia’s rocking of this cover. And I’ve been waiting to show you since September. ISN’T IT GORGEOUS? You can add Riot of Storm and Smoke to your Goodreads shelves now. And you can enter to win both RIOT and THREATS in paperback (when RIOT is printed;open to US/CA) Visit Rafflecopter to enter the […]

GUYS. I am so very, very, very excited. Because finally, at long last, I’m at a point with Riot of Storm and Smoke that I feel comfortable setting a publication date. It has been far too long since I published Threats of Sky and Sea, and I’m sure you’re all wondering what in the hell happened to Bree and her friends, right? ^_~ Well, the wait isn’t too much longer, because… Riot of Storm and Smoke will be published August 18, 2015! (But you can add it on Goodreads now) Why did it take so long to announce an official release date? The truth is that I’m a slow writer… it takes me a loooong time to even find the story in all of my pantsing-style drafting. But we’re there now, and this is for real. I’ve reserved a slot with my […]
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a high school book club, where the club read Threats of Sky and Sea this month. Equal parts nervous and elated, I left Day Job early and pulled up to a place that I don’t think I’ve been to since 2006– when I graduated from there. This was my first school visit and I tried to disregard the surrealism of the situation– along with the urge to cry out that “I DON’T EVEN GO HERE.” Not someone who is innately comfortable with attention, I was pretty dang nervous, but the informal setting quickly helped me relax. I’d estimate that about 20 students attended. We pulled together chairs in a loose circle around a table, and let the questions fly. The school visit was off, and moving fast. A lot of questions that […]
Heyyyy youuuu guyssss! You may remember that my Prince Caden short story, Defining Justice, was published about a year ago in Inaccurate Realities Issue #3: Magic. I’m so pleased to have been included in such a wonderful collection (seriously, the other stories are A+. I definitely recommend checking it out). But I’m equally pleased to announce that Defining Justice will soon be available on its own! With the story expanded slightly, Defining Justice will be coming to you in e-book form on May 4, 2015, and you can find the short blurb right here! One of Prince Caden’s earliest explanations of justice came from his father. But with an Earth Elemental’s life on the line, Caden learns to define it for himself. You can add Defining Justice on Goodreads here. And… check out the cover below! This cover is special to me […]
Hello, hello, my friends! First, a quick reminder that the giveaway for an Audible copy of Threats of Sky and Sea ends soon! Second, I’m here to play the alternate titles game today! Basically, this is a game in which I scroll through my manuscript eight times, stop randomly and choose a line from where I’ve stopped to be an “alternate title.” I played with both Threats of Sky and Sea, which is obviously complete, and Riot of Storm and Smoke, which is obviously not and while some were ridiculous, a couple actually had potential! I know what to do if I’m ever stuck for a title on future projects ^_~ Threats of Sky and Sea My Heart is Dancing a Jig Whispers of Lies How They Found Me Better Alive Than Dead Vain About His Fingernails Shift the Kindling […]
