Friday Five #4

Heeeeello and happy Friday!

Here’s the five:

1) Two weeks ago was the wedding of a college friend, so that definitely makes the top of the list of happy-making occasions! You could really feel the love in the room. ^_^ I failed to get a picture with the lovely couple at the wedding itself, but below is a photo at the after “party.”

2) Said wedding meant a slew of other good things, liiiiike reuniting with my BFF!

5) And getting to dress up. I really, really love getting all dolled up and don’t get to do it too often. My dress for this occasion is one of my new favorites, too. I bought it secondhand for only $10 bucks! I even put in the hour and a half of work it requires to curl my hair. 10636260_10152505321932297_8107400560272992300_n

Friday Five #3

Oops! Had a bit of a fail on my part and missed last week’s Friday Five. But I’m back with this week’s!

1) I’m rocking these pants today. They have a sort of leather look, but really, they’re just a coated black denim. You guys have no idea how bad-ass I feel. Also, the low is in the fifties tonight, so I’m hoping that that coating means they’re a little warmer than your average jean!

2) NaNoReMo is… well, it’s… going. I’ve been recording myself speaking about my progress every day and intend to splice it up into weekly videos, but here’s what those videos will tell you: Thus far, I’ve added about 3,000 words and revised 1 chapter. Sounds small, but around a really busy week, it’s pretty exciting progress to me! I really think I can make my goal of a completed Act 3 and revised draft by month-end!

3) I posted this post over on my group book blog, The Bevy Bibliotheque. It’s all about web series inspired by literature. It felt really good to post something there again, and really great to gush over all of these web series that I love.

4) I read Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater last week. Her series, The Raven Cycle, is one of my favorites right now. Part of it is, admittedly, the UST between some of the characters. Part of it is the strangeness of the characters and stories. Part of it is the prose– Stiefvater is a GENIUS with prose.

5) I’ve gone into Day Job one hour early and ate my lunch at my desk every day except today so that I can take a half day today! My hours wound up working out so that not only am I only working 3 hours today– I’m actually getting a little bit of overtime for the week. Boo-yah!

Friday Five #2

It’s that time of the week again! Here’s another Friday Five.

1. Since my favorite trainer has left my gym, I’ve been hitting the cardio heavily, and making better use of my secondary gym membership at LA Fitness. I’ve never really been a runner, but I’m pretty proud of the progress I’m making. I’m finishing up Week 4 of the Couch to 5K training method, and getting ready to start Week 5 this weekend! It’s not the first time I’ve utilized the Couch to 5K method, but it’s only the second time that I’ve made it this far. I’m doing the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving this year and my goal is to actually run it this time!

2. I sent the first three chapters of Riot of Storm and Smoke to two of my critique partners yesterday! I was excited, but fairly anxious since it’s the first time I’ve shared any significant portion of Book 2 with anyone, but as I want to get it finished and in readers’ hands in the coming months, it was time!

3. I began a rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender this week and oh my goodness, THE FEELS. This series is just amazing. Also, I never saw the complete series before now– only up to the end of Season 2. I just began Season 3, and my God…

4. I’ve also started watch the web series, Carmilla. I’m only a few episodes in, but so far I’m DIGGING it!

5. I’ve been jamming to both of these wrock songs from the short film “I Ship It” for a solid week now.

Friday Five #1

In an effort to keep this blog updated, I’m going to attempt to keep up with a weekly “Friday Five” list! 1. On Monday, I had Canadian Thanksgiving (Yes, I live in this U.S. Yes, it was technically for Columbus Day. No, I don’t think Columbus deserves a holiday.) off of work, so I went to the beach for a couple of hours with friends and my sunburn is only very mild. (I promise I wore sunscreen.) 2. We’re having our second “snap” of cold this season in South Florida right now! I’m pretty excited to be able to wear the boots and sweaters that I’m unable to stop myself from buying and only be SLIGHTLY ridiculous, as opposed to FULLY ridiculous. 3.
