Sixteen-year-old Kitty Lung has everyone convinced she’s a normal teen—not a secret government operative, not the one charged with protecting the president’s son, and certainly not a were-dragon.
Okay, full disclosure, I haven’t watched this video since I made it about a year ago for a former college professor’s “Marketing Your Writing” course at UCF. I’ve learned a lot regarding marketing, etc. since then, so it’s likely outdated. But I thought that some of the information here might be helpful regardless.
Happy Release Day, Lady Kat! While writing/revising Threats of Sky and Sea, I took a step back to try to get inside Lady Kat’s head. I imagined I’d sketch out a brief scene, but once I began writing it, it was clear that Lady Kat had more to say. (I should not have been surprised.) That quickly turned into a short story titled Sisters of Wind and Flame and I’m so excited that, as of today, you guys can see Kat develop into the antagonist we meet in TOSAS. I am so very, very excited that today is the book birthday for my friend, Elodie Nowodazkij’s ONE TWO THREE! ONE TWO THREE is about a ballet dancer who’s lost both her father and her ability to dance, a romance, and how Nata (said dancer) learns to cope. I first met Elodie in a YA writing class on LitReactor, where she was workshopping an earlier draft of ONE TWO THREE and I was workshopping an early draft of THREATS OF SKY AND SEA. Threats of Sky and Sea release week was kiiiind of the bomb. I was ecstatic to be releasing Threats of Sky and Sea in general and release day would have been great regardless. But a few things made it stand-out fantastic. Like all of the tweets and Facebook posts supporting me and linking to buy Threats of Sky and Sea. Like an awesome release day Twitter chat, with fun questions from great participants. Like the paperback breaking the top 5K of books on Amazon. Like ranking in THREE categories on Amazon. Like breaking the top 7K of all Kindle books. We also threw a book launch celebration! There was cake, I signed a few books, and we set up a table with swag to grab. Add Threats of Sky and Sea on Goodreads I created the trailer myself using stock video clips from free stock video websites and iMovie because I didn’t have a budget for a book trailer, to be honest! But I wanted one anyway, and I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. The passage in the trailer is one of my favorites too. I’ve also created a few Threats of Sky and Sea graphics. I first met Elodie Nowodazkij through a Young Adult writing class on LitReactor. Since then, we’ve kept in touch via Twitter and let me tell you, she is such a sweetheart!
