Titled thusly because I get a weird thrill out of making horrible puns with my own name. Apparent is still moving along… albeit, slower than I want, but progress is progress. My class with literary agent Mandy Hubbard nears its end and I’m sad to see it come to a close, but relieved to know that taking the class was a great decision. Thanks to Mandy and my classmates, I definitely feel like my opening pages are stronger. I’ve got more writer friends, that will help keep me accountable as I work toward my goals, AND I’ve got a query that I am very nearly happy with… but more on that later. Greetings, dudebros. It has been many a moon since I’ve updated this blog. I’ve been pretty caught up in posts for Almost Grown-up, making videos for A Bevy of Dauntless, and real life things. As far as the real life thing goes… I took a course for substitute teaching. Despite having a college degree and a decent resume, I don’t seem to have much luck on the job-hunting front with the economy in its current state. It’s my hope that they’ll open up the substitute employment pool and I can make halfway decent money that way. Currently working on assembling all of the application materials. One of my friends is preparing for a move to New York City for her dream job. Another of my friends recently moved to Virgina with her boyfriend. All of them are seeing their dreams […]

So, Apparent is not done. But that is next on my list today. 3 scenes left… I think that’s the count anyway. This past weekend, I reunited with a few friends in Orlando for some fun, but laid-back times. On Friday, a bunch of them stayed at my family’s timeshare with me and we played games, reminisced and chatted. These days, most people that I talk to (albeit online) are niched firmly in the same world I am. Our days revolve around books, writing, and blogging. But my “real life” friends have interests that vary far and wide from those topics. Nevertheless, they’re always so encouraging. Yes, I was trying to reference soccer with the blog post title. Did that come through? Because I’m such a huge sports fan as I huddle in my writing and reading cave, OBVIOUSLY. So, I went to New York… and then I came back home to sunny South Florida. Also known as BLISTERINGLY HOT South Florida. Summer is truly upon us, but Dorothy had it right, there is really no place like home. Something about seeing the book world come together for Book Expo America was amazingly inspiring. And coming home to my wonderful, but a bit hum-drum life was sad. But the conference really lit a fire under my butt. I want to start living my dream.
